The Problem

Students are left to piece it all together — alone.

Immigration paperwork, OPT deadlines, tax filings, and H-1B planning are scattered across dozens of agencies and platforms. One missed deadline can derail an entire career.

💸
Expensive Lawyers
Immigration attorneys charge thousands — far out of reach for most students on a limited budget.
🏫
Limited Advisors
University DSOs are overwhelmed and can only provide general guidance, not personalized plans.
🌐
Scattered Information
Blogs and forums offer inconsistent, outdated advice. One wrong move means a compliance violation.
📅
Missed Deadlines
OPT windows, STEM extensions, and H-1B lotteries carry hard deadlines with serious legal consequences.
🧾
Complex Tax Filing
Non-resident filings (1040NR, Form 8843, tax treaties) are uniquely complex and poorly served.

Stable address + someone who'll hand it to you immediately. Works well if they're nearby.
🚫 Do not use a hotel, Airbnb, or any temporary address.
📦 Moved after submitting? Email support@immigence.com immediately with your new address. We'll update it on the USCIS portal before your card ships.

The email on your I-765 is where USCIS sends every case update. Pick what works for you:

Just mention your email address when you send us your documents. Make sure it's one you actively check — USCIS uses it for all updates and any document requests.
No problem at all. Just say "create an email for me" in your message. Once it's set up, we'll send you the email address and password directly so you can log in and check for USCIS updates yourself at any time.
🚨 If USCIS sends a Request for Evidence (RFE) to your email and it goes unanswered, your application can be denied. Check it regularly — don't rely on us alone.

C
E-Verify Employer with Formal Training Plan
Employer must be enrolled in E-Verify, pay you at least 20 hrs/week, and provide a genuine training plan documented in Form I-983.

D
CIP Code on the DHS STEM List
Your degree's Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) code must appear on the DHS list. Check page 1 of your I-20 for the code.

⚠️ Not sure if your degree qualifies? Email support@immigence.com with your I-20 and we'll check your CIP code before you pay anything.
🔗 Download Form I-983 — Training Plan for STEM OPT (DHS/ICE)

The I-983 is the core document of your STEM OPT. You and your employer complete it together, then submit it to your DSO. Here's what each section covers:

A
Student & Employer Information
Your name, SEVIS ID, degree, and CIP code. Employer's legal name, EIN, E-Verify company ID, and contact person.
B
Training Goals & Learning Objectives
Employer must describe specific, measurable learning objectives tied directly to your STEM degree. Vague descriptions get flagged by USCIS during site visits.
C
Supervision & Evaluation Plan
Named supervisor, how performance will be evaluated, and how your role directly connects to your academic field of study.
D
Employer Attestation & Signature
An authorized official must sign, certifying that the training plan is real, the employer has resources to deliver it, and your pay equals similarly-situated US workers.
🔗 DHS — Students and the Form I-983
🚫 Self-employment does not qualify. You cannot sign the I-983 on behalf of your own company. The employer signing must be the same entity providing your training.
📦 Changed jobs? Submit a final self-evaluation within 10 days of leaving and a new I-983 for your new employer. We guide you through both.
🔗 DHS — STEM OPT Reporting Requirements

STEM OPT has ongoing compliance across all 24 months. Missing any of these can put your status at risk.

📋 Not sure if your specific situation needs extra documents? Email support@immigence.com before paying and we'll confirm your checklist.

Proof of funds is one of the most scrutinized parts of a Canada visa application. Here's exactly what you need.

$
Minimum $3,000 USD Bank Balance Required
Your bank account must show at least $3,000 USD (or equivalent) as a consistent balance — not just a one-time deposit. The Canadian consulate wants to see that you have stable funds to support your trip.
📅
Last 3 Months of Statements Required
You must provide bank statements from the past 3 months. Statements must be official, either printed on bank letterhead or downloaded from your bank's portal with your name, account number, and transaction history visible.
Savings, Checking, or Both
Funds across multiple accounts can be combined. Include statements from all accounts you want counted toward the $3,000 minimum. Savings accounts and checking accounts both qualify.
🚫 Do not deposit a large lump sum just before applying. Consulate officers flag sudden large deposits as suspicious. The balance should reflect genuine, ongoing funds.
💡 Balance below $3,000? A sponsor letter from a parent or relative with their own bank statements can sometimes supplement your own funds. Ask us before applying.
